It was VERY close to the line on being late, but close enough to at least be arguable. He never left his feet, and didn’t aim for the head. I think they got this one right, but I hope Chimera is okay after that landing.

It was incredibly late, and he knew the puck was gone. True that he didn’t hit the head or leave his feet though. Probably deserved one game.

Every player is taught from a young age not to admire their pass, especially in the neutral zone. If Chimera got his head up, he could have avoided the hit.

Oh yeah dude. If it happened to a shark I would be upset as well. Thats just the emotional attachment to the team though. Haha after the game we would all watch it again and realize it was a legal hit.

From the look of it, 2 minutes for roughing might even be a stretch.
I guess the NHL won’t look at it, but any word on matt niskanen and his intent to injure with the slew foot? Should be about 4 games for that.

Agreed. Chimera was watching the puck and he got run over – no elbows, no additional strides, just a nice clean hit. As Mickey Redmond always says ‘for all you youngsters out there, you gotta keep your head up’. With that said, if it were a Red Wing on the receiving end I’d be screaming for Strachan’s head.

He stayed low, didn’t target the head, didn’t charge. Maybe Chimera shouldn’t watch his pass in the neutral zone?

Apart from an issue of timing, I don’t see anything wrong with that hit. The gif isn’t in real time so hard to tell if it was late or not.
