The Chicago Blackhawks’ streak of 24 games without a regulation defeat to begin the 2013 season is in serious jeopardy tonight.

The Blackhawks trail the Colorado Avalanche 5-1 heading into the third period.

Also at risk of ending tonight is their streak of 30 straight regular season games without a regulation loss, which actually dates back to last March.

The Avalanche exploded for four goals in the second period, taking complete control of what was a 1-1 hockey game after 20 minutes.

Jonathan Toews opened the scoring, but since then the Avalanche have come back with five goals of their own.

Don’t like to boast but a week ago on PHT I did predict that they would lose one of these two games with the Aves but guess what Iam boasting anyway !

The miracle had to end at some point it will be interesting to see how Chicago deals with the loss (will they slump or stay just as strong)

For their sake, they better come back hard and fast next game. The one huge problem with getting out to such a start is that the team is in danger of coasting after the streak ends, and at the end of the season when they don’t have to push it so hard…. and coasting into the playoffs is a terrible thing to do, even for a good team.

Except for Varly and Duchene, there hasn’t been much to be proud of for my Avs. Hope this is the beginning of a reversal for the way the season has gone up until now. This game might give this young team the confidence it needs to turn things around

That’s precisely the point… they need the keep up this intensity…

Streak was good for the game but now that it’s over Hawks can concentrate on just winning the cup.
