After the last game against the Hawks I figured the Avs would be the team to end “the streak” – not in the fashion it did, however. Having Johnson back helped significantly…it’s interesting how the presence of a single person can have that sort of effect on a team (let’s not get into the 1st overall draft pick status, he is what he is, and for this team, he’s the #1 guy.) This may have been the funnest game I’ve been to at the Pepsi Center – it was a packed house, the Hawks fans were loud and the Avs fans were loud…amazing atmosphere, amazing game.

Blackhawks just didn’t have it tonight. Varlamov played great. Kane forgot to apply any back pressure on the Avs second goal and Bolland was too worried about selling the high stick he failed to get into a good position defensively on the 3rd goal. Nobody responded after Q called the timeout, different than games past. Q should have pulled Crow after the 4th goal. Lots of mistakes, but Colorado won the game outright. They did all the little things right, outhustled, outmuscled, outworked Chicago. The Avs scored on the PP and were perfect on the PK, clearly a recipe for a win. Let’s see how the Hawks respond.

Well said – can’t imagine who would/why anyone would give that the thumbs down. I am looking foward to seeing how deep they can go in the playoffs – but this was impressive as hell.

Congrats to the hawks. That sure was one fun ride. Thanks for giving hockey such a bright moment after dark time. Also congrats to the avs! If this young team doesn’t make the playoffs at least they played a game tonight that had playoff like atmosphere tonight. Not to mention their a part of history. Duchene is a great player and had fantastic game.

Get games avs. We got outplayed tonight. Hell of a streak boys. So proud of you boys. All good things come to an end. Loved in the first period when hawks fans were cheering “lets go hawks”. This is why are sport rules. There are many of you that I have had fights with. But god damn it hockey rules. And the true fans rule. And avs fans get your tee times ready. Lol. Hockey for life. Great game.

honestly, not to try to take away from the streak, but on the plus side, now the entire hockey community doesn’t have to listen to flyers fans and Blackhawk fsns fight over which streak is better or whatever.

It had to end eventually. And the way the Avs played em the other night it’s not surprising they were the ones to end the streak. The Hawks shouldn’t be too disappointed, they’re still far and away the top team in the NHL. And this streak has pretty much guaranteed a high playoff seeding (if not the #1 seed). Congrats on a helluva run Chicago.

Also, it’s nice to see the Avs getting into a rhythm offensively. They have a nice core group of young forwards.
