Getty Images Chicago Blackhawks’ forwards Patrick Sharp and Andrew Shaw left Wednesday’s game against the Colorado Avalanche with injuries.
Sharp left the game in the third period after being driven hard into the boards by Avalanche defenseman Ryan O’Byrne, as per NHL.com.
Shaw left in the second period, and did not return for the third. The Blackhawks were without winger Marian Hossa, who was a late scratch due to an upper body injury.

The Blackhawks defeated the Avalanche 3-2 Wednesday, extending their streak without a regulation loss to begin the season to 24 games.

Sharp was checked into the boards, but “driven hard” is an exaggeration, IMO. Clean hit for sure. Shaw on the other hand took a hard elbow from Stasny right in the mouth.

That was a pretty nasty elbow. Dont think its suspension or even fine worthy. But I do think Stastny will be getting a phone call. Call up Morin for Sharp and Pirri for the 2nd line and drop Bolland to 3rd if Shaw misses some time. Those kids deserve it.
