If you say they are currently peaking, then yes … you are saying it’s impossible for them to play better. That is the definition of peaking, is it not?

Did I say it would be “impossible”? I’m simply saying they are playing very well/in my opinion peaking right now. Sure, they could play better. They could also play worse, especially that goaltending that has been extremely sketchy in recent yrs.

Their 22 game win/point streak would say that! Ask any Wild fan, we were leading the league last year through November. Injuries and other issues came real quick and we fell out of contention.

And there’s something to be said about being hot at the beginning of the season. Remember the last few teams that previously held the record points streak at the beginning of the season won the Stanley Cup in that season as well. Ducks 2006 (16), Oilers 1984 (15), Canadians 1943 (14). It’s absolutely great to be able to finish a season strong but you have to be a heck of a good hockey team to be able to continue getting points night in and night out like the Blackhawks have.

Yeah, the east is pretty lucky they don’t have to face the Blackhawks during the regular season. We’ll see how the east’s best fares come the Stanley Cup Finals.

Early in the 2010 season the Blackhawks trailed the Flames 5-0 and came back to win. That game gave the team confidence that they could battle back from any defecit.
I think this streak will have the same effect. The Hawks believe that they can win any game. This isn’t so much peaking too soon, more like ever increasing confidence in themselves.

I love this team, playoff bound and should be dangerous. I am curious to see, however, if this is too early to peak. I would prefer to peak heading into the playoffs like LA did last year. Regardless, this team is damn good.

The streak does end tonight, though!! GO WILD!!!!!

of course it’s better to be hot going into the playoffs..but wouldn’t you rather be hot and winning now,rather than be playing .500 hockey and wondering IF you will ever get hot ?

Toews is right – while the streak is impressive… the ‘season’ depends on how you finish.

Nagging caution is… being hot now VS late. Teams prefer to get hot at seasons end and enter the playoffs on he rise, not to be coming down off of a high.

Coach Q and Hawks leadership need to prep mind and heart of that locker room for the first few losses.

The losses will come, which will be the true test of the Hawks grit. How they respond then is key.
