Isles’ Visnovsky (personal issue) out versus Habs

Islanders defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky will miss tonight’s home game versus Montreal, and probably Thursday’s contest versus the Rangers, with a personal issue.

The issue, according to Newsday’s Arthur Staple, is not related to Visnovsky’s son. Unfortunately, it is reportedly a “family tragedy” that requires his traveling to Slovakia.

Visnovsky was late joining the Islanders after the lockout ended, citing his son’s non-serious health issues as his reason for staying in Slovakia.

The 36-year-old has one goal and five assists in 12 games while averaging 23:06 of ice time.

    Sorry that Visnovsky has had a family tragedy. No doubt Garth wants to make things as easy as possible on him in hopes that he will re-sign.

      Watched this guy play when they lost in OT to the leafs, he has a solid game. Always a threat in the offensive zone and has an absolute bullet of a shot. Snow would be wise to try and keep him around.
