What was supposed to be a six-week recovery period may end up considerably shorter for Philadelphia forward Matt Read.

Per, Read (torn rib cage muscles) practiced today at the Flyers’ facility in New Jersey, and even took a “a bump here and there” from teammates.

“I get better every day,” the 26-year-old said, per “It could be a week, two weeks or three weeks. I gotta wait till I’m 100 percent. I’d love to play tomorrow night but obviously, it’s an injury you want to be 100 percent so when you are playing the game you take a hit and battle and stuff like that.”

Read had seven goals and six assists in 18 games before hurting himself Feb. 20 in Pittsburgh. Even though he’s missed five games, he’s still tied for fifth in team scoring with 13 points.

“It’s getting better every day but at the same time, I don’t want to re-injure myself,” he cautioned. “When I come back I want to make sure it’s 100 percent so that when I get hit in a game I am strong enough to take it and play through the battle.”

I’m pretty sure that’s a pic of Matt Carle (currently on the Tampa Bay Lightning) and not Matt Read. The more you know.

You’re right but Matt Read is the other guy in the picture.

      Umm…No. That IS Matt Read.

they had Carle up originally and changed it, hence 3 people pointing it out.

They changed the photo. It was Carle with Read barely in the shot before

This would be a huge addition. The rest of the forwards are starting to roll, and if Read could come back they’d be that much more dangerous. Whenever he comes back (hopefully next week) he will slot nicely on the third line. Read-Couturier-Gagne would be one of the best 3rd lines in hockey, especially in the defensive zone and it would balance the other 3 lines. Talbot would move back to the 4th line with Fedotenko and Rinaldo. Plus Mezsaros will be back within the next few, weeks meaning we could finally have our full roster! And Mez could be the puck-carrying defenseman we’ve been missing. Flyers are finally on the upswing.
