At the end of his run here the relationship between Darryl Sutter and Iginla had turned sour, Iginla does not like Sutter and likely wouldn’t waive his no trade clause to go there.

Iginla’s going nowhere! Why would he…he’s built a beautiful home amidst some of the most spectacular scenery in the world, and his home is in Calgary where crime is low and taxes are favourable; by far the lowest provincial tax in Canada with no burdensome sales tax. Sure, men are men and the cattle nervous in Alberta, but the people are real friendly if you’re a card carrying conservative and, while hockey is important, it’s not the end of the world if the Flames lose so the probability of rioting is low. Great place to live and raise a family, great place to call home, great place to stay!

BERNIER TO CALGARY FOR IGINLA AND FEASTER ?

Just kidding about Feaster. But man would it ever be nice to have Jarome on the Kings eh? And can you imagine how the entire WC would be trembling with fear? I mean seriously, it would be like Napoleon bringing nuclear weapons onto the battlefield at Waterloo in 1815! Of course I realize that it’s unlikely to ever happen, but it sure is a nice thought all the same …

Maybe Orpik has had a tough go of it because he is the only defensive defenseman that is on the team. Sure you got Bortuzzo, whom I like, but he’s not proven. Orpik has to mentally overcome all of the Dmen that want to shoot the puck. (Wide, I might add.) Is Mark Eaton going to bring more grit or better defensive play? I’m not sure of it.

Pen’s offense is fine. Why in the world would they give up anything for another forward, a rental at that. The Pens, like my Flyers, need Defense and just to tighten up in front of the goalie. If they do anything it should be a good defensive D man.

bgrillz I don’t see any team paying the price it will take to get Iggy just for a rental. He will go to a team that has cap space and intends on resigning him.The Pens don’t fill that bill as they have to much talent already that will need resigning soon enough. I think the Wings have the talent and cap space to get Iggy and who wouldn’t resign with the Wings.

I doubt Iginla would lobby to go to yet another sub-par team, be the best player and have to carry all the load like he’s done for years in Calgary.

Iginla would be a rental. It won’t affect the resigning of Malkin or Tanger at all. Those guys will be shored up in due time. I do agree, we need another defenseman. Orpik has had a pretty rough go of things this season.

First off the Iginla rumor is started by Bruce Garrioch which pretty much guarantees it’s made up (he was let go from Hockey Night in Canada cause he was always “hearing” these outlandish rumors that never had any basis in reality. Secondly Iginla has a no trade clause (and is extremely close tothe Flames owner) and his indicated that he doesn’t want to waive that which means the Flames won’t be putting him on the block, unless he changes his mind. And based on how Feaster bungled things last week I’m not so sure he’ll get the chance to make anymore big deals here.

Would love to have Iginla…but he would have to come at the right price. Pens have a lot of resigning to do, as Malkin and Letang definitely will not be cheap to bring back. Personally, I’d like Shero to focus on tightening up the defense. Giving up 16 goals in 3 games leaves a lot to be desired.
