Kadri did things in junior which were Quite Simply AMAZING !! Not only does he skate , possess a great set of hands , he reads the ice like one of the Greats , he can grind it out , hit , and be scrappy with the best of them….
A lot of people last year wanted him gone that was a shame he is still a kid…. When I hear a Sports Announcer ( Glenn Healey ) compare him to Doug Gilmour I sit up and Listen…. I have been high on him since I first seen him play…. If he can be remotely as good as Gilmour , I will be one happy LEAF FAN !!

I guess a lot of Leaf fans that were trying to trade Kadri for anyone with a pair of skates are happy now and glad he wasn’t traded away.

This quote was taken out of context in a big way! Carlyle was laughing when he said it and followed it up by praising Kadri. The video is on the Leafs site and is the post game interview from last night if interested…

Why can’t you write something good about the game instead of crap like this O’Brien? Or are you always going to be just a hack?

I was just thinking that about Burkie.

Not sure if the leafs are going to be in contention for quite some time though. I mean New York, Philly, New Jersey, Tampa, and Washington are playing mediocre to terrible, and all of those teams have the potential to be much higher in the standing. I’m not saying Toronto is going to regress or drop off (though it wouldn’t be unprecedented), I just think its too early to say that they’ve established their identity as a perennial contender.

But as govtminion said, I don’t want to raid on Toronto’s parade, they are doing excellent and I’d love to see them square off with any of the northeast division teams in the playoff. Toronto would be electric!

Two things….First this is why you have to be patient with some prospects this young man is turning out to be be a pretty good player….Second this is pretty much Brian Burke’s team he deserves a lot of credit for his patience and putting together a pretty good young team that should be in contention for quite some time.
