He hasn’t been great in the NHL but with Florida’s injuries lately and Buf and Cgy looking to shake up the lineup a little it may be worth the claim. A low cap hit and he is a RFA at the end of the year, might be worth kicking the tires for the rest of the year for those or other teams and you can let him walk after this year. He can still be a 4-9 forward if he finds his groove in the NHL.

The pens were not expecting Malkin to be back tonight. After the morning skate he passed his tests and they needed a roster spot for him since Mark Eaton is now on the team.

Bennet was sent down because it can be done so without putting him on waivers, and Boychuk was put on waivers so that Bennet will be able to come back in time for next game.

I don’t mind Boychuk going down but Bennett has played well so far and earned a spot – certainly more than TK.
