Everyone saying Florida doesn’t need Lou should really look at the situation

Florida is in last place in the East
Florida has made the playoffs 1 time in the last 10 years
Florida has problems drawing fans
Florida and Phoenix are the teams everyone says when contraction or re location is brought up

So it would seem to me if you want keep the Panthers in Florida you should really find a solid goalie and not hold onto hope that an unproven rookie will be ready in two years

Florida needs Luongo more than you would ever admit to. What you have here is a stuborn Florida manager that thinks that he can get Luongo for cheap. IT’S NOT HAPPENING DALE.
Look to see how well Luongo worked out with a young goalie in Schnider. Luongo can bring Markstrom along just the same to teach a young goalie the ropes. If Tallon does not do the trade for Luongo and Markstrom gets lit up a few times – what will happen to his confidence.
Florida needs to have a quality #1 goalie to bring Markstrom along and Luongo is the only goalie available.
So if you want Markstrom to end up in the AHL or in Europe dont trade for Luongo.
The question is which team needs Luongo more Tampa or the Panthers?

Friend … nothing will be given up by Florida, apart perhaps from a few “cosmetic” assets which will allow Gillis to save face. As for the 38 million remaining on Luongo’s K after this season? Well it’s all a question of how you want to look at it. Shall it be 38 more years at a million “per” ? .. or perhaps 5 years at 9.5 million per ? .. how about a little invitation to a “spaghetti” dinner which results in the 38 mil “magically” shrinking to 18 mil ? If anything, I can see the Canucks being obliged to package someone like Kesler into the inevitable Luongo dump. The bottom line is that Luongo is headed back to Florida, no two ways about it.

Why the hell would Florida take on the 9 (?) years Luongo has left on his contract when Markstrom will be ready to take over in the next year or so? It just doesn’t make sense. Fla should just bring Markstrom up and have him split time with Clemmensen. And if he performs well then give him the bulk of the starts. It’s not like the Panthers are in the thick of the playoff race. From the limited starts I’ve seen from Markstrom he’s better than Theodore, so there shouldn’t be a drop off. But giving up solid prospects and potential top picks for an aging goalie, that would stunt the growth of your future goalie, just isn’t a prudent move. Panthers should be sellers anyway.

YES !

There’s only one viable destination for the 64 million dollar Michelin Man and that’s the Sunshine State of Florida. Whether it’s Miami or Tampa Bay is immaterial. The bottom line remains that Luongo’s controller “desires” that he return to the state post haste. And now it looks like he may be able to finally do that, God willing. None of us can predict anything with certainty, however I wouldn’t be surprised if “something” is announced shortly.

lol, don’t be silly. If you’d actually watched any of the Panthers games this year, Luongo isn’t the solution. They’re terrible in the defensive zone, can’t score 5 on 5… bringing in Luongo makes less sense now than it did in the offseason, and it didn’t make much sense then either. But you got “Luongo” in your headline, which people will click, and didn’t put “Panthers”, which people would ignore, so I’m sure you’ll get what you’re after here
