Was Jones hurt? I disagree that that should be criteria for a suspension or fine, but Shanahan does use that as a factor. Me, I think a hearing for this is utterly ridiculous. Yes it was a blind, cowardly, and total jerk move by Benn. But it wasn't a head shot, or a high hit, and I think that no one can argue intent to injure here with a straight face. I'd have given him 4:00 and moved on.

I agree, but just because there is a hearing doesn't mean a fire or suspension will come from it. max pacioretty had a hearing last week and got no fine/suspension.

Shouldn't be a suspendable offense. This is what worries me - coaches, players, and fans getting in the habit of calling for a league review of every incident. Just because there is an incident after a play or someone gets hurt after getting hit does not mean it is a suspendable offense or that someone needs to be punished. The league reviews started because of the dirty hits to the head. There were too many concussions. Going completely overboard now.
