Honestly, he didn’t get very many minutes in Philadelphia so I’m not entirely sure how he’d holdup in the defensive zone. There weren’t any plays (that I can remember) where he was a clear liability in the defensive zone. But he’s relatively effective in the corners and not afraid to hit anyone so I’d imagine he wouldn’t be too much of a risk. And he puts out a lot of effort all over the ice. Plus he moves extremely well for someone 6’5”. As for puck possession, he’s more competent than most goons. He’s shown the ability to make some pretty impressive moves with the puck. Like this season against Tampa, he played about 5-7 minutes and scored both Flyers goals (2-1 win) on the same forehand-backhand maneuver. I’d say being a regular he’d top out at about 7-10 goals with plenty of hits and a lot of fights.

Brought in for one purpose only…to deal with LA and there bully-boy tactics come playoff time. A good move to be sure! A further side benefit, the Canucks have become hands-down leaders in both the Sopranos look-a-like derby and the second team stand-in roster for Godfather IV…don’t forget the canoli?

He’s got a physical style but if often boarders on dirty. Nothing wrong with being chippy and toeing that line, but that hit on Horton last year was bad, if you watch his whole shift he was head hunting the entire time.

He’ll definitely provide that physical presence that Vancouver seems to lack. I always liked Sestito. He’s a solid skater (especially for his size), has underrated offensive ability, and will obviously drop the gloves. But he wasn’t really needed in Philly with Rinaldo, Simmonds, Schenn, and McGinn. Plus Luke Schenn and Grossman on the blue line. Hopefully he gets an opportunity to play regularly with the Canucks.

Blame the Caps.

I don’t know much about Sestito but he is bigger and younger than Aaron Volpatti which is nice.. if he can get around the ice well enough to use his size (and to not be a complete liability in his own zone) then he should be able to get into the lineup most nights.
