It's funny that you have to draw from the Pens AND the flyers to match "any of your 3 hawks"

It's also funny that you call it a "media east coast bias excuse." Are you denying it exists?

i fully expected a list of guys as a return argument, and i expected a media east coast bias excuse too so thanks for not throwing that into it - but know that i do recognize its existence. that being said, we never even mentioned goalies or defensemen either. chara, karlsson, letang vs weber, doughty, or pietrangelo. without lidstrom i think it swings to the east too if you're looking at norris candidates and scoring/skill/talent. goalies are better in the west but then again i still think the east has more skill up front so maybe there's a direct correlation there. to say giroux or malkin are just goal scorers means you dont watch hockey - i'll give you ovechkin or stamkos there but even if you look at top 3 only i'd take malkin, crosby, giroux as better overall players than any of your 3 hawks any day of the week...datsyuk is in a league of his own though.

individual player trophies over the past 10 years is such an irrevalent stat.

a few off-season moves, and that could easily go to the west. toews, kane, hossa, datsyuk, zetts, kopitar, getzlaf. the talent is easily even/maybe to the west. funny thing to note, you didnt even think of mentioning Vanek. another note, you named all guys (excluding crosby) that are just goal scorers/snipers, no overall all around skill. you just showed the east has nothing but goal scorers and the west is way more well rounded, hence the west is tougher.

regardless, the Hawks are crushing the league, and I hope they keep the streak going! Go Hawks!

i'd say the opposite - east has more richard, harts, art ross's in the last 10 years with the exception of perry and sedin - they are really it from the west. stanley cups are pretty even though. skill wise i'd say the east has the guys hands down but the west is far more competitive within their divisions/conference. crosby, malkin, ovechkin, giroux, stamkos, kovalchuk, nash, gaborik - enough said. i miss playing the the west this year though, those are fun games to watch when the teams dont know each other as well.

I say this as a Canucks fan..... Get ready for the 0.1% opinion of Nucks fans..... It isn't getting old. It is getting more and more impressive. The only knock that people can find on the Hawks is that they lack a legit experienced goalie for the playoffs. Well, considering they got the Cup with Anti Niemmi, there is no reason to think they can't get the job done with these goalies, especially the way they are playing. Emery and Crawford are both in the top 10 for stats and have each played around 10 games this early in a short season. When I reflect on past years, it sort of feels like yesterday when Emery helped lead Ottawa to a Stanley Cup final. Like I said, I'm a Canucks fan, but can only give credit to the Hawks. It's a great start that can't be discredited.
