No schedule will be perfect. Some may be better than others. To compare a few teams schedules...

Once March comes around for the Bruins they have 2 days in a row off once until the playoffs start. You could argue that the league hates the bruins because they will be tired from playing every other day for 2 months going into the playoffs.

Have to imagine that the teams that have the 3-day breaks between games will also have the most back-to-back games.

Blackhawks have the best record in the league.
2 games in a row: 9 times (happened to them 4 times so far and they have won them all)
2 day or longer breaks: 9 times

So 18 of their 48, or more than 1/3 of their games in a shortened season they have to worry about playing 2 days in a row.

Pens
2 games in a row: 7 times.
2 day or longer breaks: 9 times.

Flyers
2 games in a row: 9 times (happened 7 times so far, only 2 more to go the whole season)
2 day or longer breaks: 11 times, and one of them is a 5 day break in march.

Phanatic77 Im not hating. Just rationalizing. Youre right we have played as many back-to-back as the pens have played all season. happens.

Its all gona even out as the season goes on.

I was wondering what the excuse would be for winning 10 of 22 games. Glad we have that ready to go. You see, each one of the past 38 years have had separate reasons as to why the Flyers didn't win the cup, and it has everything to do with scheduling and the NHL being out to get the Flyers. Otherwise this teams would be perennial cup team...hahaha...right. Oh I can hear the chorus now...

...but the Flyers have made the playoffs more than the Penguins and won more total games...

The penguins went bankrupt I tell ya! The Flyers have better TV ratings! The flyers have more sell outs!

YOU'RE VERY WELCOME ! ... LA Kings Nation :)

We Kings fans are very happy to see Gagne have a "happy landing" back home there in Philadelphia and we wish you people well in going forward. Nonetheless, we do suggest that you guys do yourselves a favor and replace that "quack" goaltender of yours asap. Bryzi may be even more of a liability to you than Ovi is to the Capitals? Trade him, put him on waivers, arrange a "mishap" or whatever ... just get rid of him as soon as possible and you guys will be back in a big way !

Here's an example of what Flyer's goal tending is supposed to be like ...

Awesome game they just need to keep the hammer down and start a winning streak here. The season is going to come down to the final week for a lot of teams to make the playoffs I like the way our roster stands now we are one of the deepest teams in the league the problem is just them playing consistent some nights they look like the best in the east and the next they look like the worst if we can stay healthy and then meszaros and read come back before playoffs this team will be extremely dangerous oh and no chance Briere gets traded teams may be calling about him but one thing about the flyers is they never give up on a season and if we want to win a cup Danny is going to be a huge part of that.

Plenty of ppl were saying Gagne is another over the hill, Flyer retread who wasn't going to bring much to the Flyers lineup (mostly Jack Bauer) but I think tonight he showed there's a little something left in those 32-year old legs. Obviously he's not gonna score every game but the dude was solid defensively and a consistent player in the offensive zone. I think we can expect leadership, consistent effort, and an occasional goal from Simon. Doubters will be eating crow as #12 contributes to a Flyers turnaround. 60 minute effort tonight! Keep it up.

I'd like to be the first to thank those in the NHL scheduling office for throwing us the most games played in the league thus far with the least days off(Really?? 2 games more than ANY other team?? Some teams have only played 17 games and Boston's only played 16!!! That's absolutely pathetic scheduling!! Were the only team that's played more than 20 and we've played 22!!!). At least they had a little pity with this next stretch...3 of the next 4 games against 3 of the top 5 in the East. At least we finally get two days off in a row(we have the least of those, btw) The Flyers have had 2 days off in a row exactly 3 times. They've never had 3 days off in a row. Boston, for example, has had 2 or more days off in a row 6 times and 3 days off in a row 3 times!!!

But hey, don't look now, were right there battling through injuries and a horrible schedule to-date, taking over sole possession of 8th in the East, 5 pts out of 1st in the Atlantic. Anyone who thinks were out if it is crazy...or in the case of Pens fans, scared! You KNOW they'd rather face ANYONE but the Flyers in the playoffs!

I can't wait for the responses...commenters here don't like to see facts and numbers, makes 'em feel like Bryz in the woods with bears.

Not to take anything away from Gagne here, but that was one hell of a pass from Schenn. Jesus, what a play and what a finish. (Pretty hard thing to say as a Pens fan but must give credit where it is due)
