While Martin Brodeur remains day-to-day with a sore back, the New Jersey Devils have recalled goalie Keith Kinkaid from AHL Albany.

Kinkaid, 23, is 17-11-5 with a .905 save percentage this season.

It’s not clear if Kinkaid will travel with the team to Winnipeg for Thursday’s game against the Jets.

Brodeur was unable to start Sunday’s 4-2 home loss to the Jets. The Devils say the injury is not serious.

“That’s the feeling we all have,” general manager Lou Lamoriello said, per The Record. “You never know. But that’s the way we feel.”

Keith Kincaid is also the name of the “action star” in the Steve Martin/Eddie Murphy classic “Bowfinger”. Not sure what that has to do with anything other than that name sounded oddly familiar…

Does he know he’s actually a goalie?

This is why you dont ride your 40 year old goaltender into the ground, especially in an abbreviated, compacted schedule. Rangers and Philly are going to have the same issue here soon if they dont give Biron and Boucher some starts and rest Lundqvist and Bryz.

I honestly don’t think they were running him into the ground. I think the Devils have done a good job of playing Moose when there are back to back games. Plus, Marty was in perfectly good shape before this. There is no way the Devils would jeopardize his health. That’s why they are calling up this goalie if they need to use him.
