Watch Zdeno Chara do a spin-o-rama and score a goal

Feb 24, 2013, 4:22 PM EDT

There are a lot of things Zdeno Chara can do in hockey. He hits hard, he shoots the puck with tremendous velocity, he can even punch your lights out. But pulling off a spin-o-rama and scoring a backhand goal to the short side? Uh, yeah, you can add that to the list.

Check out his goal against Jacob Markstrom and the Panthers this afternoon that put Boston up 2-0 in the first period and just allow for your jaw to hit the floor. Also, enjoy Jack Edwards’ call of the play. “6’9″ and he’s a ballerina!” (YouTube)

(Thanks to @dafoomie for the video)

would suck to have to listen to that announcer every game

    • nunan - Feb 24, 2013 at 5:34 PM

Best announcer in the sport of hockey. Surprisingly, I like the Carolina announcers. The Buffalo guy is brutal.

      • 2dollarpbrs - Feb 24, 2013 at 7:53 PM

Jack Edwards is the best announcer??

        Lay off the smack

      • nunan - Feb 25, 2013 at 1:07 AM

Maybe not the best but the people who crap on him don’t like genuine excitement, which he has. In big moments, his inner ‘fan’ comes out and it’s great. Whoever you guys have as an announcer is probably a clown so dont be hypocritical.

@nunan I was telling someone the other day how I thought the Carolina announcers call a great game

As a Bruins fan I couldn’t agree more. I no longer live in New England so I have the gamecenter live package, and I always choose the Bruins opponents. I was surprised he kept his job in this PC world after he made multiple JFK assassination jokes in 1 game a few years back.

        too soon?

  3. govtminion - Feb 24, 2013 at 5:32 PM

Hell of a goal… I know I shouldn’t, but whenever I see him put on a play like that I can’t help but think back and wonder how that whole “Keep Chara or Redden?” choice could have turned out different for Ottawa.

  4. nunan - Feb 24, 2013 at 5:32 PM

starting today, the Bs play every other night for the the next month. Going to be a tough stretch. Couldn’t enter this period in a better spot though…

  5. phillyphanatic77 - Feb 24, 2013 at 5:58 PM

Wow. Bruins might just be the most talented team in hockey. Solid up and down the lineup. We all know Chara is a talent but I don’t think anyone knew he could move like that. I’d hate to play in the Bruins division.

  6. 8man - Feb 24, 2013 at 6:10 PM

Chara is a beast. Now the league knows how the Bs won the cup. The guy is just a total package hockey player at the highest level. Ice time. Check. Defense. Check. Power play kill. Check. Goal scoring. Check.

If the Bs stay healthy and don’t play Buffalo in the in playoffs they have a real shot to get it done. 11-0-2 against any team not the Sabres. Go figure.

    • govtminion - Feb 24, 2013 at 6:14 PM

There’s a lot of hockey left to be played, but right now I’d wager that there’s not much worry about facing Buffalo in the playoffs at this point…

  7. kingsforever - Feb 24, 2013 at 7:14 PM

who is he now Drew Doughty?

  8. ironmike778 - Feb 24, 2013 at 7:53 PM

Been watching the Bruins for over 40 years. Any criticism of the play by play guy Jack Edwards is justified. Having grown up with Fred Cusick I cringe listening to Edwards. I’m dumbfounded that this jack a$$ keeps his job. He’s an embarrassment.

    • nhloon - Feb 25, 2013 at 11:23 AM

No one could be Fred Cusick you bum !!!!!! What would you rather have Derek Sanderson !? Jack is a homer and I love it, love every second of it. Go Bruins.

  9. bruinsfan1953 - Feb 24, 2013 at 8:14 PM

Anyone that doesn’t like Jack Edwards , doesn’t know Jack !!!!!! . That was one heck of a goal

  10. arbruins - Feb 24, 2013 at 9:57 PM

I will take Jack Edwards over Emerick (if that’s how you spell his name) any day. I am not saying that Jack is the best announcer I have ever heard, I just can’t listen to Emerick dumb down the game for the people who don’t understand it…kind of like fox with the glowing puch!

  11. arbruins - Feb 24, 2013 at 9:58 PM

    Damn auto correct…PUCK

  12. govtminion - Feb 24, 2013 at 11:00 PM

I can’t stand listening to Edwards (I’m a Bruins fan), but he’s not the worst of them. That would be Benninati and Laughlin here in Washington- I can’t listen to a Caps broadcast without wanting to pour concrete down Laughlin’s throat.

  13. betrayedbylife - Feb 24, 2013 at 11:10 PM

jack edwards’ lack of ability to admit any boston wrongdoing, mistake or failure is to be admired not chastised! a trip into obscurity is not in the man’s future. hating him proves me right.

    • nhloon - Feb 25, 2013 at 11:24 AM

Yes !!!!! Edwards can do no wrong !

  14. dan46778 - Feb 25, 2013 at 2:25 PM

Has a bruins fan I cannot stand jack Edwards he does not know hockey at all n sooo much of a honer

    • bearcountry17 - Feb 25, 2013 at 4:59 PM

      At least he isn’t illiterate…

    • betrayedbylife - Feb 27, 2013 at 2:28 AM

*is (i think by “n” you meant “and is”)

you’re also missing some punctuation. if you want your opinions to be taken seriously, present them intelligently.
