Look I'm taking nothing away from their start. I understand all teams have overcome schedule related adversity. I was just responding to the point above that they had the toughest schedule. Even with the travel I still don't think they have the hardest. During a shortened schedule the teams that have more rest have a distinct advantage, and the Hawks have had more rest than some other teams. They have a difficult schedule just not the most difficult. Still an unbelievable run against many good teams in a deep west.

Something you have to take into account with Western Conference teams is the travel times as well. The first 10 of 12 games for the hawks were on the road going up and down the west coast with only two at home. Then they start a similar run all at home (which can be just as bad because of the distractions).

I actually think that was good for them, though. This team had to come together as a team right away and they have. What impresses me most is their mantra of knowing that they can still play better and that they will play better because their goal right now is home ice in the playoffs. That cohesive attitude and work ethic is what really makes them dangerous.

Hard to question the Hawks schedule. It is very obvious the West is more stacked than the East and the Hawks have actually played more of the upper echelon.

It's been extremely impressive. It's crazy to think that they haven't had one bad game so far but I don't think they've had the hardest schedule. Just take the Flyers for example (as I'm most familiar with their schedule)... they've played 20 games in 33 days, 12 on the road, with five back-to-backs already (only 2 of those 10 games at home, and they weren't consecutive). They've already played as many back-to-backs as the Pens play all season. And there are other clubs dealing with similar issues. The Blackhawks have had 3 BTB's, with 18 games in 35 days. Not trying to take anything away from the Hawks run, they've been a well-oiled machine, but there are other clubs that have started with more difficult schedules. But like you said I'm rooting for Chicago to keep it up. I'm happy to see Ray Emery finding success.

A cross check didn't get called, neither did the spear to the nuts that followed.

One of these will probably get a call from Shanahan's office...seems the Hawks can draw out the worst in a team.

If your just counting regular season games, the Hawks current streak is 24. Still pretty far out there. And with the condensed schedule they have to mail one in sooner or later. Right??

So far very definitely Best Performance by a Team in a Leading Role. And now they are just over halfway to the record unbeaten/points streak set by the Flyers in 1979-80. Matching that 35 game streak will be close to impossible. (But then, so was Cal Ripken eclipsing Lou Gehrig.)

best team in the NHL by far! Hardest schedule thus far and yet they have not lost in regulation! no matter what fan you are, you have the appreciate this run they are on. Im a hawks fan but last year when the Wings went on that 20+ games without a home loss, I was rooting for them to keep going because it is something a hockey fan should cherish.
