He turned a little at the last second. Actually, this is less boarding than the hit McD put on Pacioretty. He wasn’t that far from the boards, and his own actions caused him to go face first. He was looking at his follow-through, with his head down. If his head was up, it wouldn’t have been nearly as bad. Still – I could see 1 game for this, but only if the do the same for the un-pen alized hit that McD did.

Im not completely sure what people are seeing when they sat McDonagh turned in to the boards at the last second. He was skating straight at the boards the entire time though he looked to play the puck one way then skated the other; it doesn’t change however that Pacioretty saw his numbers as he came in for the hit. It was already announced he faces a hearing today.

Thats such BS, and you’re getting that from the CBC announcer thats a homer idiot.

Go through the video frame by frame. McDonagh’s numbers are to Pacioretty for the entire play, and Pacioretty still decides to throw the hit. Theres a slight turn by McDonagh right before contact, but that turn doesn’t make him any more vulnerable then he already was. Even if McDonagh did turn right into the hit (which he didn’t), its still on Pacioretty to not drive him face first into the boards at full force. Pacioretty saw numbers, and didn’t care because he was after “payback” as the idiot announcer said…

Not only is there no doubt that this was a penalty, I would be suprised if theres no a suspension… especially since Pacioretty has a history.

that should be of been a double minor. that was a retaliation move on Pacioretty part. But like Peter Laviolette says “Typical Montreal”

Pac went for the hit and was made cause of McD’s hit earlier so he hit him harder and McD turned like an idiot at the last sec.

Still yeah there was blood, usually an automatic double minor but the refs missed the delay of game early when haglin knocked the net off on the Habs chance

McDonagh is completely to blame for this hit. He turned into Pacioretty. Shouldn’t have been a penalty.
