Hey Stekex,

I respectfully disagree with your assessment. I watch at least 90 percent of the NYR games, Lundqvist is overrated. If he played in Phoenix, Lundqvist's weaknesses would be revealed quickly. He plays behind an outstanding defensive team. Two All Stars, along with two other upcoming All Star Defensemen. Plus, they block a lot shots. The only thing he's ever won is 2006 Gold Medal for Sweden. In regards to the last year's playoffs, Anderson and Holtby both outplayed him.

Rangers were 3rd in the league in blocked shots last season.

Kings were ... wait for it ...29th ...

Quick even faced over 100 more shots than Lundqvist.

The majority of the shots that got through to Lundqvist were lower scoring percentage and outside the shooting lanes.

Pesky facts>blinders.

Get the facts straight.

In terms of shots per game, Lundqvist saw about the same as Quick did... despite the amount of blocked shots the Rangers had. Besides, save percentage cuts right through all that and tells you what percentage of shots a goalie stops... and Lundvist had a higher S%. Only slightly higher yes, but still higher. Also, despite the Ragners defense being good at the end of the season.... it was terrible for the first half and Lundqvist stole a ton of games at that point.

As for sportsfan69's laughable assesment of the Rangers current situation... lets be realistic: The Rangers forward lineup has been pretty much blown up since last year. Not one line is the same, and half their forwards are new to the lineup (including two rookies at this point). They also lost a large chunk of their penelty killers from last year. Now consider that there was no pre-season, and pretty much no camp. Its going to take a while for some chemistry to develop among the forwards. Thats just how it is.

When it comes to Lundqvist, he was the only reason the Rangers made it to the ECF last year. The team couldn't score, and he carried them as far as he could. They will be fine with him in net if they can just score a couple more goals here and there.

He's right about the Vezina. Quick didn't have a team in front of him to block 20-30 shots a game the way Lundqvist did. Quick pretty much also carried that Kings team to the post season when their offense and defense were completely anemic throughout the regular season. Quick probably would have rightfully won the Vezina if the other goalie wasn't in the New York market.

I'm not sure why you think he isn't good in the playoffs. Last year, in 20 games, he posted a .931 save percentage, and a 1.82 GAA. That was BETTER than his .930 and 1.97 in the regular season. Seems to me you have no idea what you're talking about.

What a bunch of b.s. First our most "veteran" Dman is Girardi and he is all of 28 years old so lets not blow up the whole team as overpaid veterans who dont have a few runs at the cup left in them. Second about Lundqvist are you out of your mind all three of those guys were on better teams then the Rangers have put in front of Lundqvist. Hasek is a perfect example , couldnt win a cup till he went to a stacked Detroit team. Lundqvist isnt even old in goalie standards and has won for 7 straight seasons which is a strong reason why he won Vezina last year cause hes done it for 7 seasons straight and had a great year last year and Quick had been good for like 2 seasons and had a great year. Lundqvist was awesome and was the biggest reason they finished first in the east.He will win a cup in the NHL one day and Rangers fans will be lucky if its for them.

It's about time. Let the rookies play. The veterans aren't doing it. All I see is a bunch of over paid veteran players who can't score or play defense. The Rangers need to draft a goalie prospect for the future. Lundqvist is not the answer, he'll never win the cup for the Rangers. He's not at Brodeur, Roy, or a Hasek. He is what is he, a good regular season goaltender. J.Quick should have won the best goaltender award last year. But, the NY media gave it to Lundqvist.
