I'm watching almost ALL the games...

That's the point Buff...he IS the best D man we have right now...

I'm not saying he's bad... he's just very nondescript - no edge - no pop - no excitement. Nothing overly impressive and still plays like a smaller man. I'd like to see him play with TooToo's edge.

He has the ability - just doesn't seem to have the drive.

PS - Cleary has picked it up.

I am not sure what games you are watching but i've watched every game this season for the wings and Ericcson has been by far the best d-man we have. He has stopped the other teams top players on a consistent basis and him and lashoff have been good on the pk. Ericcson has been so good that Babs has moved him up to the top pairings recently

I think everyone else especially cleary has been awful. That guy shouldn't be on the pk or pp anymore, he is a wasted spot. other people can take his role on both special teams spots easily. Rather have nyquist in then Cleary, hell I rather have 43 year old Sergei Fedorov in there instead of Cleary.

Lidstrom could do no wrong this season. Regardless have whether he played for Detroit's defense or in their management, that man is a natural born leader.

That's coming from a non Red Wings fan.

PS - also causes Babs to prove he's earning his money by creative lines and rebuilding, rather than coasting on a senior and talented team.

No downside to the adversity.

We all miss him, but Nick did the right thing.

Better to go out on top and be very well remembered.... than be an A-Rod.

It's good for the Wings not to rest on those stars forever. A little adversity is good for everyone involved, and you also get to see... IMO of course...

...who rises to the top and current occasion:
Hank, Dats, Tatar, Brunner, Tootoo - doing his job well and very active on D, Cleary - who refreshingly called himself out and has made a great effort to improve over the past month

...and who has not... and we thought they would:
Abdelkader, Kronwall, Filppula, Eaves, Miller, Ericsson - all very few impact plays - nothing standing out in their personal efforts.

....and guys that haven't been bad... but need to seriously take their play up a couple notches:
Howard - .896 doesn't cut it - but when it rains sog every game its not all his deal, Andersson, White, Lashoff,
