Expectations. Caps were consistently a top 3 team in the East for a few years and couldn’t get out of round 2. Then the last couple of years have gone downhill. The Sabres haven’t been at the top since 07. Fair or unfair expectations play into it. Pens and Jackets could have the same record and Pens would get more heat.

I dont know how Buffalo escapes the same criticism that Washington gets; Buffalo haven’t been a consistent team in a while and have done very little to change it, yet Washington is “dysfunctional”, labelled as chokers and everyone goes after the GM…?
