There have been some nice sprawling assists and other bits of off-balance improvisation lately, particularly Rick Nash‘s memorable helper. John Tavares only got a secondary assist on the New York Islanders’ 4-3 OT win against the Montreal Canadiens, but he clearly triggered that tally as he left his feet:
That overtime-winner was also the first NHL goal (and point) for former first-rounder Thomas Hickey, whom the Islanders claimed from the Los Angeles Kings shortly after the lockout.

Holy JT. One handed pass mid-fall. Nice pass from Grabner to Hickey as well.
Liked Hickey’s game so far; glad to see he finally potted one

Matty had two goals, JT two assists, Nabby stood on his head all night and had a helper besides…and the Habs writers gave them no stars but the #1 star goes to Desharnais whose holding penalty led to the second goal. Go figure!

That was a sick game winner… But how about nabbys dive to draw that call on white. My god he was barley touched and he acted like he got hit by a car. I was laughing so hard at that dive, almost about as much as Dipietro and Nabakov ended up laughing at it after the call, but wow. I honestly have no respect for Nabakov now. What a joke.
