Also, I wonder what happened to the kevlar hockey socks? They showed them a few times in the past when these accidents occured: They’re just hockey socks infused with a layer of kevlar, not a regular cut athletic sock

They are socks worn on their feet and underneath their pads. The socks over their pads just slide over pads and don’t serve as protection.

Above the sock and under the pants. Freak thing like Karlsson getting sliced inside the boot of his skate.

Scary situation, hope he recovers quickly and whoever the teammate was that got him can mentally recover quickly too.

Brings to mind the (probably good deal more severe) cut that happened to Richard Zednik. In Zednik’s case I think a member of the team medical personnel was an ex-military medic, and literally reached into Zednik’s neck and clamped down on the artery to stop the bleeding. Now THAT commands respect.
