Um Isn’t that the job of the goalie coach? Looks like Burke’s Leafs are starting to gel,Kadri showing some poise,the 2 goalies have been solid and the Leafs are winning some games.This with a broken Lupul (did I spell that backwards?) and a misfiring Kessel.

But realistically, how many of those will be available still or fit the bill of a goalie with more experience that can still win games for them? Backstrom is the one maybe I can see if Minny keeps Harding and Hackett, but Smith will likely be re-signed by Phoenix (same with Fasth unless either demands the moon for their next contract). If Smith doesn’t get re-signed, it’s probably going to be because he hasn’t been nearly as good as last year. The other options (maybe Nabby) are pretty speculative for a team trying to reach the playoffs and I’d actually consider it a very thin UFA pool for goalies this year.

Backstrom will be a UFA at year’s end, as will Mike Smith. Though the Leafs don’t want someone to compete for starter, so… Garon, Emery, Theodore, Nabokov, Chris Mason, they’re all theoretically up for grabs.

Oh yeah, and I hear that Fasth guy is supposed to be pretty okay, too. Jeez, not a bad market for goalies this offseason.
