The Chicago Blackhawks have earned points in each of their first 14 games, putting them just two contests shy of the record-holding 2006-07 Anaheim Ducks.

Chicago will attempt to maintain its hot start today against the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings (3:30 p.m. ET, NBC), but they’ll have to do so without starting goaltender Corey Crawford.

The 28-year-old netminder is still dealing with an upper body injury and consequently hasn’t been skating, according to the Los Angeles Times’ Helene Elliott.

Crawford is one of the main reasons Chicago is within striking distance of the record. He has put his sophomore slump firmly behind him with a 1.65 GAA and .935 save percentage in 10 games this season.

Goaltender Ray Emery, who turned aside 27 of 28 shots against the San Jose Sharks on Friday, will start this afternoon, according to Chicago Tribune writer Chris Kuc.
