Actually the TSN crew said exactly what I wrote. Aaron ward (ex NHL defenseman abd bob Mackenzie said everything I wrote on tv. Check it out. I guess your a person who doesn’t believe other people can change. I know first hand that’s not true, I also know you haven’t watched how Cooke has played the past 1.5 years to see how much his game has changed. What I said are facts backed up by NHL experts. What you have is theories.

Cooke could have easily pinned him without getting a skate up. Most of Cooke’s weight was distributed towards his left left, not his right. If he was off balance as you say, then why was he standing up without any trouble? Why would his left go down without going backwards if his center of gravity was going forward?

Your ‘facts’ haven’t been proven because no one else has gone on record saying what you have written. Matt Cooke did that to himself when he decided to play the way he did and causing those previous injuries to other players. Don’t blame me for using it against him in this case. Maybe he did not intend to cut Karlsson, but he did intend to hinder or injure him in some way. Believe what you want but you are taking an extremely liberal approach to this. Cooke has ended hockey careers in the past, and now, for some reason, he’s supposed to be Mr. Clean who can’t do anything wrong. That’s convenient and oh so coincidental.

If you go back further and look at the clips as the two players went into the corner you will clearly see that Karlsson lunges upward into Cooke which throws him off balance which causes his skate to lift off of the ice. When he brought his skate down it unfortunately sliced laterally across Karlsson’s achilles. There was NO stomping motion as some have insinuated. He wasn’t paying attention to where his foot was coming down but focused on the puck. But of course if you watch the clips that are in slow motion that only start as they go in to the boards with Cooke’s leg already lifted it only tells part of the story.

This was NOT intentional.

Facts i presented to you. 1 his leg is in the air because hes trying to pin karlsson against the boards. 2 his knee hitched on the way down because his equilibrium (center of balance) was thrown off due to the jostling of sticks between him and karlsson. If you played hockey like you suggest then you would know how fast the game is and how unrealistic it is that he tried to cut him with his skate while going in for a hit during a board play. Like i said ill never change your opinion on this play because you prejudge cooke due to his past ( i can somewhat understand that orginally) but to assume he set out to step on karlsson and cut him is ludicrous. Also the reason the “fishy analysis’ is because at first they saw it was matt cooke and jumped to the same conclusions you did based off his past, but after reviewing the play understand its a hockey play, or it could be a conspiracy. Your choice,

The difference between Cooke and all other aforementioned goons is Cooke can actually play hockey. He doesnt even go for big hits anymore. Of course nobody crying here has actually watched him in the last year. Everybody just remembers the last headlines they read about him.

His past history alone brings this entire episode into question. You didn’t provide any facts at all actually. I did. Look at the video evidence. You can CLEARLY see how Cooke hitched his knee and did not bring it directly down to the ice.

And what? His half-assed ‘apology’ is enough to make it better? I can understand being objective, but objectivity is thrown out the window in a case such as this considering Cooke’s prior history.

If you didn’t watch the game on TSN and didn’t hear of the fishy analysis regarding the supposedly dirty hit miraculously turning into a hockey play then you have no right to an opinion on this matter.

I think I would know after almost 30 years of playing and watching hockey.

I’m not a Penguin fan, nor am I a fan of Matt Cooke’s (although I do give him credit for cleaning up his act over the past two years).

Still, having followed hockey for more than 50 years, I can’t recall a case where a player used his skates to intentionally injure another player. Do any of you remember such an incident? Using the stick, yes, but the skate, no. That’s why I do not believe that Cooke intended to hurt another player with his skate blade.
