Especially since he wasn’t playing very good in the AHL either.

However, considering how well he played when thrown into the Rangers playoff drive last year can you blame the team (and fans) for having high hopes for him?

Hes 40th in S%, and 43rd (out of 44) in GAA at almost four goals a game…. so your right, hes not playing poorly: Hes playing down right terrible. The reason he can’t be sent down is that the Caps simply have no depth in net, and with numbers like that he has no trade value (not to mention the trade market for goalies is pretty much Luongo).

As for Kreider, theres no doubt he hasn’t performed quite as well as a lot of Rangers fans might have expected… but that happens sometimes with young guys, especially ones coming off such a high from last year. He might not be a difference maker for the Rangers this year, but he will be in the future.

@hockeywithdrawal – The Rangers are 4-1-1 in their last six games. Hardly “losing”.

If you watch Caps Hockey in Braden’s games, you will see that goals for opposing teams will be either deflected, deflected off of our own defensemen, or due to poor defense and leaving him out to dry. The only goal that I fault him for where the blame is squarely on him, is the missed poke check from last night. And Holtby is still in the bigs. If he was playing that poorly, he would’ve been demoted or traded by now…. So… Eat doodies

It will kick in, in 8 months when next season begins, regardless as he already slid last year. Ice the best lineup, which includes Miller at this time, get into the playoffs, and focus on re-signing him in 2015.

No pro hockey experience and they throw him into an extremely deep Rangers squad and expect him to produce on the 3rd/4th lines while being a healthy scratch every other game. Let Kreider go learn the rest of his game and have him ready to come up around playoff time to replace a sure-to-happen injury to one of the other players.
I agree with Torts about not going through the process. If you don’t have your base down pat, you will only hurt yourself.
Smart move by the team to send him down.
