Where’s the love?: Islanders’ Boulton and Rangers’ Asham drop the gloves

Feb 14, 2013, 10:27 PM EDT

What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day? New York Rangers tough guy Arron Asham and Islanders enforcer Eric Boulton squared off in the first period of Thursday’s contest.

Frans Nielsen and John Tavares scored in the shootout to lift the Islanders to a 4-3 win over the Rangers.

Clear decision for Boults. Asham got pummelled. Don’t know how the rest of the season will go for the Isles, but if they can play it like they did periods 2 and 3 and the OT, I will be happy.

Tell me about it, especially if the isles keep playing teams back up goalies every night as well, like they did against the rangers. The isles can take serios advantage if good teams rest their number 1 night in and out vs them

Isles have talent no doubt about it. Surprises me they haven’t had better results this year. Seems to me the biggest weakness is they don’t have a puck moving defensemen. Feels like the Isles are close to having a really good team.

It’s only been a few games but I really like what Visnoksy does for the D. Really moves the puck well into the zone helps bring some offense; case in point- the Brad Boyes goal last night. He had 7 SOG as well.

Praying last night was a sign of more to come and that they can bring themselves back out of the basement and make it interesting.
