Following a brief lull, it seems like Jaromir Jagr is back to proving that his scoring touch is intact at 40.
After just missing on a one-timer opportunity, Jagr took advantage of the increased space in a four-on-four situation to score career regular season goal 669 on Tuesday:
That breaks his tie with Luc Robitaille for 10th all-time and gives him a little breathing room ahead of fellow active icon Teemu Selanne, 42. He now looks up at his former idol and teammate Mario Lemieux:
All-time goal scoring leaders
9. Lemieux – 690 goals
10. Jagr – 669 goals
11. Robitaille – 668 goals
12. Selanne – 667
(In case you’re wondering, the nearest active NHL player not named Jagr or Selanne is Jarome Iginla. The 35-year-old is 35th overall with 517 goals.)
Jagr now has four goals in 2013, with his last two coming against the Oilers. He improved his season point total to nine in 12 contests while the Stars beat Edmonton 4-1 thanks to a three-goal third period.
