he came over with the whitney trade with kunitz. i think pens win overall even though they spent a 1st round on whitney and i dont mind it being a 7th round pick for tangradi – its about all he is worth at this point. if the jets can get him going then more power to them. he has been around for a while and has 1 goal in 45 nhl games. he has had his chances, he just hasnt stepped up. my biggest complaint has always been that he cant finish, he has some great chances playing with malkin and neal and even crosby at times…the guy was awesome for wilkes barre but the big stage just gets to him i guess. maybe winnepeg can welcome him and relieve some of that pressure he had in pittsburgh.

This is a great pickup for the Jets, low risk – high reward. Tangradi never got a true opportunity in Pittsburgh. The Pens are in a win now mentality and can not afford to wait/be patient with Tangradi. That’s something that they can’t afford at this juncture. The kid has talent and a high ceiling, with regular playing time he WILL develop into a solid NHL contributor. With the Pens, he played anywhere from 5-10 minutes (usually on the 4th line). He had 2 games where he was on Malkins line for maybe 10 minutes each game, then was benched for 8 straight games. Can’t develop, let alone find chemistry when your not playing.

I don’t think anything will happen in the next week or even the next 2 weeks. I think it’ll happen around the end of March/ Early April at the deadline when teams start getting nervous when they realize that they don’t have much time left and they aren’t in a playoff position.

Expect that there’s really nothing to be had. Most teams feel like they still have a chance and aren’t ready to give up roster players. And even when the time comes when teams have given up on the playoffs – the trade prices are likely going to be way higher than I – and probably Shero – could stomach.

Sad to see him go, but he never lived up to his (at least perceived) potential, even with malkin and neal as linemates.

Good, people whined so he would play more. They put him on a line with Malkin, if you don’t produce with him then you aren’t worth your paycheck. Good move to clear some dead weight. Bring up beau Bennett!!
