I gotta say, with tight achilles tendons of my own, this is my worst fear injury. I hope he comes back strong as he played last season. Im not an Ottawa fan but I loved this kid and seeing him play.Quick recovery, bud.

Neal should be suspended for intent to injure. Not one mention of his constant badgering of Cooke clearly predatory. Something should be done. Get rid of this kind of dirty play. Neal does this constantly with no consequences at least once every game. Why the last few minutes of a lost cause game to basically attack a player is tolerated at this
Level is beyond me.

I said it on another post, if it was Kaleta, Burrows, Marchand, Ott or anyone of that ilk it would be the same debate. I am not a Penguins fan, but I don’t think they are dirty. If that was someone like Letang hitting Karlson then you may only have 1 or 2 people thinking it was intentional. I agree that Cooke has been better behaved in the last couple seasons, but he will never shake that reputation. Brad Marchand hasn’t been diving or slew footing/kneeing, yet he is still called a cheapshot artist. Burrows will always been known as a biter.

Look at Ray Lewis in football. Ravens fans will say how he is reformed, but everyone else remembers his past. (I’m not comparing Matt Cooke to a murderer, just an example of gaining a reputation and it sticking.)

Love all the comments on how Cooke is scum and the penguins are all dirty players , as If any one of your teams doesn’t have a player of questionable character .. And for anyone to sit there and say there was a stomping motion afte watching the replay in slow motion a million times is a complete moron , your not an analyst so shut it . Hockey is a fast game and things like this happen , I’m sure the people that sit there and judge Matt Cooke on his past have some skeletons in their closet .. Cooke WAS a dirty player but over the past two seasons has cleaned his play up tremendously

Cooke is a dirty piece of shat. We will never know his true intent but it looked like a stomp on the back of the leg to me. I definitely would not put that type of move past this dirty bastard. I hope someone ends his career, violently.

I hope Cooke gets What he deserves. I hope karlsson can come back same as he was.this was the best talent in the league right now. As A Canucks fan I only hope someone removes Cooke from hockey.someone like Brendan Shanahan for the sake of other players.

Absolutely awful looking when it happened. Another reminder of how dangerous this game can be. Maybe the league needs to design something to protect the back of the lower leg. It’d be nice if something positive game from this injury and loss. Get well, kid!

Matt Cooke. This does not surprise me in the least. Just when I thought he had cleaned up his game he pulls this crap. He should sit as long as Karlsson is out. I’m a Penguins fan but not necessarily a Cooke fan. However, the incident tonight was clearly an accident and not intended at all! How unfortunate for Karlsson to have this happen. I recall when Robert Lang was with the Pens and had this happen. It took him the better part of a year to get back on the ice.
Truly a tragedy for Karlsson as well as the Sens.

if you watch the replay, you can see Karlsson get under Cooke’s left arm and lean him up and back, putting him off balance. Cooke lifted his left leg out of balance and brought it down to regain his balance. Unfortunatly as he did so, it came down on Karlssons heel. If Cooke really tried to stomp on his heal, in the small margin exposed and not protected by his boot, while off balance, then Cooke has got to be perhaps the most talented skater to take the ice in the last 50 years.

had to drop the gloves? neither player dropped the gloves, Neil punched Cooke 3 times with his gloves on and then jumped on top of Cooke when he fell. Ottawa will want a little better revenge against Cooke and Pitt will want some revenge on Neil for jumping Cooke. Next Sens/Pens game will be a don’t miss.

Wow. More terrible news for Sens fans. Hopefully he can make a full recovery but thats just terrible. I thought the Flyers had the injury bug. What a shame.
