The original poster said “he could save the Bruins cap space.” I am saying that his prerogative is to continue to be paid and take care of his family; no greed implied and I understand how LTIR affects the cap and well aware that the Bruins are poised to make a move or start extending players with cap space. Savvy was the last point per game Bruin and one of the funnest to watch; amazing if he returned but highly unlikely.

I’d agree Ryan that it is still a notable injury. The Bruins would be unstoppable if they could score on the power play and Savard would be a huge help.

I am pretty sure anyone on this board who signed a job contract and then got injured on the job, preventing them from ever working in their profession again would want to get paid. Are you saying he is being greedy? The Bruins have plenty of cap space and as nunan said, can put him on LTIR whenever they like.

Imagine what the team would be like if he could play again….

Every year, the Bruins put him on LTIR at some point, which saves them the cap space of his $4+ million.

His contract with the Boston Bruins runs through the 2016-17 campaign. I considered not putting him on the list because the odds of him ever playing again aren’t great, but it is still a noteworthy injury, even if it’s also one that the Bruins have long since accepted.
