It was really unlucky that we were without our entire 2nd pairing for the home and home against the Devils last weekend – especially since the Pens had to play 6 in 9 (ridiculous, by the way). They can only foist so many minutes on Orpik and Martin: we had two rookies and a career AHLer playing much more than ideal. And Engelland didn’t look very good. We probably could have held up against another team, but the Devils MO is wearing people down – just not enough left in the tank for the defensemen.

If Marrow would have played on Sunday it would have been 3 straight days playing a game. Not a good thing for a player that would have been making his NHL debut. There was concerns that Martin might not of been able to play as he missed the morning skate and that would of been the only way Marrow got in the lineup.

They’re second in the ATL, fifth overall in the East…would rather make sure he’s not going to reinjure if that’s even a possibility. I would have liked to have seen Morrow play on Sunday instead of Reese, though (not that Reese did bad, though). I guess the points are easier to get now instead of later, though.
