Jets’ Byfuglien in vs. Philly tonight after missing last five games

The Winnipeg Jets have announced that defenseman Dustin Byfuglien will return to the lineup Tuesday evening when they host the Flyers at the MTS Centre.

Byfuglien, 27, has missed the last five games with a lower-body injury. He’ll replace Grant Clitsome in the Jets lineup and pair with usual defense partner Tobias Enstrom.

It’ll be interesting to see how much ice time Byfuglien gets in his first game back. He was averaging close to 27 minutes per game prior to the injury and, in his absence, Jets head coach Claude Noel has spread the ice time out evenly, giving the likes of Zach Redmond and Paul Postma expanded roles (Postma on the power play especially.)

In other news, the Jets will give backup goalie Al Montoya his second straight start after shutting out Ottawa 1-0 on Saturday.

Montoya turned aside 33 shots against the Senators and was named the game’s first star — he’s now 2-0 on the season and could be in line for some extended playing time, given starter Ondrej Pavelec is battling both the flu and consistency issues.

Not looking good for my team.

Philly is tired after playing TOR last night (and playing dreadfully against TOR at that) and WPG is coming off of two days of rest.

Add in the fact that we only beat WPG in 1 contest out of 4 last year and I am predicting an L for us tonight.

Winnapeg is not four years old : ) but I know you are talking about the franchise but just think before we had the longest winning streak in the league vs them because we did not lose to them for 5 years or so haha

Yep – when they were in Atlanta.

Much of that credit for the winning streak belongs to Antero Niittymaki – the Thrashers just couldn’t seem to beat him.

Good to see Big Buff back in the Jets lineup. Hopefully he is sluggish tonight than gets back to form. How can anyone say they are a fan of a team…..than come out and say because we won 1 out of 4 games against them last year we are gonna lose. …….get off the wagon when they start winning games consistantly if you have doubts. Flyers will win 6-4… a high scoring game.
