Isn’t drug-testing part of the new CBA? If he continues at this pace I’m sure somebody will bring the question up. Honestly though, 10 or 11 games into the season isn’t that many games. If he’s still at this pace 35-40 games into the season and hasn’t slowed down I’ll be suspicious, but for right now I’m just gonna pretend to be naive and bask in the amazingness of Selanne’s hot start and hope it’s legit. I love a good fairytale and him having the season of his life makes a great ending to the story of his career.

I have to admit I was thinking the same thing about Jay Pandolfo. If 38 year-old Jay Pandolfo can somehow contribute to a championship-caliber Boston Bruins team after getting bought out by the Devils three years ago then picked up and let go by the Islanders, this is one hell of a story.

Let me start off by saying, I think Teemu Selanne is an amazing hockey player and a seemingly a better person. But recent events has caused me to question every time an athlete does something exceptional as whether he is doping or not. Hockey is one of the most demanding physical sports in the world. How I am expected to believe that a 42 year old is somehow is still in the top 1% of his profession? I’m sorry but Lance Armstrong has destroyed all my faith in professional athletes. I think we’ve all earned the right to question every athlete who does something extraordinary. I really hope I’m wrong.

Seriously, between him and Koivu somebody needs to get out there and test the water. I don’t even believe Selanne is a real human. Him, St. Louis and Brodeur, man. They know what’s up. Like a fine wine they only get better with age.

You nailed it. I think that there should be an asterisk next to his induction that defines the word “class” or mentions his selfless playing style. He’s one of the greatest goal-scorers, play-makers, and leaders to have ever worn an NHL sweater. I’ve been fortune enough to meet him, and he was the nicest guy. Anaheim is lucky to have been blessed with his star power for so long. I’ll root for the Ducks in the West this one last year just for number 8.

I thought he was going downhill and was about to retire like 7-8 years ago. Especially after Anaheim won the Cup in ’07.

Every single year this guy proves me wrong. He’s shown no sign of slowing down…he’s simply a beast.

Nothing to say really. Just wow. I remember back in highschool, there were like three years when the big influx of young Soviet and Euro talent came into the league. Selanne, Mogilny, Fedorov, Bure. All of them put up crazy numbers and were exciting. Some of them are already in the Hall of Fame now and Selanne is still putting up big numbers on a competitive team.

Selanne is a hockey god. All class. I was fortunate enough to see his first ever game in Winnipeg, his record breaking 52nd goal and last years return to Winnipeg. The guy is ALL class and a refreshing change from some of today’s athletes more concerned with being “swaggy” than putting up numbers.
I hope Selanne continues to play for another 10 years.
