long time flyers season ticket holder here. so far the season can be broken up into 2 parts: the 1st 8 gms with 6 on the road and team was struggling. then the last 4 at home, where the team stabilized and went 3-0-1. now a huge 3rd chunk is coming up — a 6 gm road trip. and it includes 3 back to backs over the next 7 gms. will be interesting to see how the flyers respond over next 6-7. it could be a pivotal pt in their season.

Philly lacks scoring depth? I mean the one thing we have is that. Right now giroux is not producing (playing great D though) so if he kicks it into gear and our top line starts putting up numbers since our other 3 lines (aka our depth) is where all the points are coming from, I think we will be fine.

So yeah let’s tank a season so when hartnell and mez come back, who both put up great numbers, we will have no shot at the playoffs…. Sorry but this is Philly, we do not tank season to get draft picks.

You are absolutely wrong on so many points. First off, the qualities Sestito brings to the lineup can be accomplished by the likes of Simmonds, McGinn, the Schenns, Rinaldo, and to a lesser extent Grossman. Those players bring a physical dimension and won’t hesitate to drop the gloves if Giroux is under fire. Saying that Lavy preaches “don’t stand up for your teammates” is absurd. Just ridiculous. There have been no indications that anything remotely close to this is being preached. As for Gustafsson, there is a good reason why he isn’t up… he’s been hurt. So has Bourdon. Gervais and Foster have by no means been great, but they have been serviceable. Foster brings a right handed power shot that the PP sorely lacked. Gervais has made some mistakes but for the most part he’s been a pleasant surprise. He brings a little bit of speed which the Flyers definitely need back there. As for the scoring depth… their scorers have been slumping and they’ve been hurt by injuries but that doesn’t mean they lack depth. Giroux, Briere, Simmonds, Read, BSchenn, Voracek, and Couturier all have the ability to score. Even Talbot scored 19 goals last season. Plus McGinn has shown flashes of offensive potential. Not to mention the fact that they’re missing Hartnell, their leading goal scorer last year. The whole team has been slumping but they’ve shown over the past week that they’re getting it together. They have depth it’s just about execution. And getting Hartnell and Mezsaros back will boost the offense.

The guys an idiot. He is talking about the Flyers like they have played the same way all year. They were having a really hard time coming together at the start of the season. Players and coaches a like. Players getting injured and others coming back less then healthy really threw off the offensive and defensive combos. The fact that they played the most games in the league during that time didnt help. Also 6 out of their first 8 games were on the road. Leaving them with a 2-6-0 record and putting them in last place in the NHL. But once the schedule calmed down and the lines started to gel they have been a totally different team. Going 3-0-1 and tied for 8th in the East. With the one loss coming in a shootout. Which if your Flyers fan that actually watches the games you would know is something they have never been good at.

So dont tell me the sky is falling Chicken Little when its obvious your havent even looked out your window in 2 weeks.

you got a coach that doesn’t want to start a player like Tom Sestito while giroux is getting punished on the ice and preaches don’t stand up for your teammates. There too much dead weight on this roster starting with foster and gervais. There is no reason why Erik Gustafsson isn’t up with the club. The only good move they made was schenn trade in which is turning out to be good for both teams. they lack scoring depth and you can’t go into late February into early march with no scoring depth. if they are not willing to part with a core young player to bring in a Bobby Ryan, they are screwed.

flyers are better off at this point tanking rest of season for seth Myers. sign Perry or Getzlaf and fire Lavy in offseason. Players aren’t responding to him consistency on an nightly basis. Pau Holgrem poorly constructed this team.

Absolutely. Leighton is a borderline (at best) NHL goaltender, while Boucher could be considered a serviceable backup. I’m not saying he’s gonna challenge Bryz anytime soon but I feel much better giving Boosh a spot start than the dude who gave up the worst goal in Stanley Cup history. It sure would be nice to a have a backup on the same level as a Hedberg or Harding though.

Boosh is clearly at the point where he’s no longer a starter in the league but there is no better locker room
guy anywhere nice to have him back….this six game road trip will pretty much determine the fate of the flyers season
