Koivu IS a #1 center and anyone who actually watches this team play knows that he is. He's one of the best 2 way centers in the league and NHL players will tell you that. Mikko gets forgotten about because he has hardly had anyone on his line to finish the plays he creates. Watch his points go up this year (based on 48 games anyway) working with Parise and Coyle. I'm NOT saying that he is one of the top centermen in the league, but he is at the very least a decent #1 line center. He would be a top line guy on most teams in the league, excluding those teams with elite guys of course.

This teams top line is NOT the issue!! The secondary scoring is the issue; in particular Heatley, Seto, Cullen, Clutterbuck, Brods, PMB.

Heatley: Gets paid to be a 30+ goal scorer - 4 G *2 goals on opening night*
Seto: Gets paid to be a 25+ goal scorer - 0 G 2 A
Cullen: Veteran who gets a decent salary to get 30+ points a year - 1 G 3 A
Clutterbuck: Wild mgnt believe he should be a 20 g scorer (personally I believe anything over 15 is a bonus but 30+ points should be a reallity) - 1 G 1 A
Brodziak: Got an extension to be 30+ point getter - 0 G 1 A
PMB: Expected to be a 35+ point getter with something like 15 G and 20 A - 2 G 1 A

You project some of those numbers outward and it's not pretty. No one below the 1st line is getting anything done and THAT is the problem. I'm not saying that the Cullens, Seto, Clutter, Brods and PMB's need to have 6 goals and 10 assists right now. But ALL of them should have at least 6-10 points by now. If you give all of them just 5 points this team probably has 3 less losses. Expecting those types of numbers from those guys is not an over expectation.

Koivo is better than u give him credit for. He def has the ability and hockey iq to stay a number 1 center. There depth falls off hugely after there first line and 1st def pair. Even their num 2 d man would be a 4 on any other team. They have the prospects but that's just it they are prospects with no experience under their belts. Granlund and could have huge potential but potential doesn't win games.

They need a #1 Center. Koivu is a #2. Don't know where they would get one and who they can give up. Would anyone take Heatley? Seto is a scrub, so they wot get anything for him. I don't think there are any Joe Thorton's or Brad Richards' available.
