I’ve been a Caps fan for almost forty years. Sat through an 8-67-5 season and many years of not making the playoffs. I helped keep the team from moving in the1980′s. I’m still a fan even from 3,000 miles away. I’ll put my credentials up against any hockey fan, thank you, including those from Philly and Pitt.

I enjoyed watching Mike play when he was a Cap and was sorry to see him go. Sorry he decided to give the thousands of dedicated Caps fans a cheap shot.

philly is more than twice as large, hence the larger population. In order for the population to mean anything it would have to be from the same are amount. If you read what I said then I would not have to repeat myself…

Take a 60 mile radius from both arena and the population is almost even. So like I said Population does not factor in to this dispute.

1st what is a smuck? 2nd Where I’m from in PA you can’t by beer at a liquor store because they are under the LCB. You should know that it’s a union thing. 3rd if it’s open 24 hours (which they are not but for arguments sake) then it never would close so I wouldn’t have to hurry up to get there. I credit Knuble with the Flyers turnaround . He doesnt have the scoring touch that he use to but he still very strong on the boards and in front of the net and his high hockey instincts are still there. Just as important is the leadership he has brought to the Flyers. Which the Flyers sorely needed seeing how many young players they count on and a first time Captain. If it was up to me I would give him Hartnell’s A for the time being.

@phillyphan83, I could not agree more. I’m not saying all unions are bad or they have bad people in them. I’m in one because my career choice requires it. My best friend is an electrician and he was called up to help repair disaster damage in New York right after the hurricane leveled most of NY and NJ. When he got to the Pa/NY border his group of “disaster relief electricians” were turned back because 1 or 2 guys in the group were non union. This was with 10s of thousands of people without power or running water. So they went to NJ and provided relief there. Do you really think those families especially the ones with small children give a crap if you are making union rate or not. I know I wouldn’t. I just saw 150 union employees lose there county jobs due to the Governor cutting most funding for youth and elderly. Jobs the union said were “secure”. The union’s response “sorry maybe they will call you back for another position.” Some people had 20 + years of seniority. Job security is a myth unless you work for the IRS or own a funeral home because the only 2 things people have to do is pay taxes and eventully die.

The AC garage collapse was due to a rush procedure of curing concrete due to the pressure from the general contractor to save money ! Which the workers on the site reported as unsafe ! People lost their lives you idiot due to the negligence of the general contractor .Rush Rush Rush with unsafe practices to save money ! Secondly there is no seniority on a union job site which weeds out the bums and insure quality work with all the checks and balances yes accidents still do happen ! If the truth hurts you certainly did not prove union work sites have the unsafest work records going the truth is quite the opposite ! As far as your statement concerning NY when the twin towers came down and bodies needed to be recovered there was no one more capable or willing to do the job than a union worker ! Please don’t ever again refer to me as a fellow Philadelphian because you my friend are not even a fellow American !

eiggles…sometimes i agree with you sometimes i dont. sometimes i agree just because youre a fellow Philly fan, however, this is not one of those times. First of all, unions go against everything Philly stands for, blue-collar hard-working gritty folks. Union workers are mostly people looking for the easiest way to get a good paying job with gauranteed raises and untouchable income who cant be easily fired. THEY are the ones who do scab work and milk the clock. Look at all the building disasters in our recent history…all union jobs. Parking garages collapse in AC…Union job. Dozens of crane collapses in NYC…all Union jobs. Innocent people are getting killed because union workers know theyre jobs are protected and they dont make their living based on the quality of their work. Their jobs are always behind schedule and over budget. Unions have not been neccessary in this country in decades and are one of the principal reasons why inflation doesnt match wages. Unions drive up the cost of business which drives up the cost of goods which we cant pay for because our salaries are not going up 4% a year. Unions are a major reason why were in a recession. Truth hurts, we know, but you are absolutely wrong to say that non-union workers are the scabs when the truth is its the other way around.
