Devils’ Zubrus to miss both games vs. Pittsburgh this weekend

It’s a good thing the Devils committed to rookie Stefan Matteau because they’re going to need him against Pittsburgh this weekend.

Forward Dainius Zubrus will miss both games against the Penguins with an upper-body injury as Tom Gulitti of Fire & Ice reports. Zubrus was hurt against the Rangers on Tuesday night and his absence against Tampa Bay cleared the way for Matteau to suit up for his sixth NHL game.

Coach Pete DeBoer will now be hoping Zubrus’ absence doesn’t hurt too much against a Penguins team that appears to be getting its act together having won five in a row.
