Boy, I have never seen a fight cause so much drama...when Chara pounds Regher it's ok because Chara is a skilled player, incidently the size difference is roughly the same as Scott/Thornton. Scott did his job as did Thornton and in this instance Thornton took a whooping and he took it with class. As a Buffalo fan I have all the respect for Thornton. The only thing I beg to differ with Thornton is in his saying he fought Scott before Scott did something stupid....first Scott only fights enforcers and doesn't go out and mug small, skilled player. Scott served his purpose well because the rest of the game was pretty clean, not much pushing and shoving after play was over. Lucic was pretty non-existent physically. Let's face it once your though guy gets beat down there is nothing to do because Scott still has two fights left and who is going to want to face him. I bet the game on Sunday is calm. Milbury is such a turd, anyone who knows Thornton knows he has heart and somewhere down the line they will meet again. Scott fought smart because as Thornton moved forward be backed off and with his reach he was able to get a good hold and good position and had Thornton off balance.

Thornton gave up 6 inches and 40 pounds to Scott.......not all that different than Hecht or Pommer gives Lucic. I guess the biggest difference is that Thornton is a Bruin....he will fight for his teammates and his crest without worrying about himself. #warrior

Chara doesn't fight because, you know, he's a top 3 D man in the league. Thornton fighting Scott was pointless, let alone Chara. Scott is the single most useless player in the league, a complete pylon, traffic cone, whatever adjective you want.

I don't see the Bruins even bothering to fight Scott again this season. It's basically a man advantage for them when he's on the ice. The only way they fight him is if Scott jumps someone, or runs someone.

Bringing in a goon who can't play hockey the next season is hardly "doing something." They had chances last year. When it happened, they all stood around. The next meeting, they barely addressed it. They turtled big time. They were pushed around and didn't push back. And after that hit, they collectively went in the tank and missed the playoffs because they refused to band together as a team. Nobody is complaining in Boston. Buffalo wanted to address the situation after it was no longer important to anyone but Sabres fans. Thornton stood up for his teammates and fought the bigger man so that it could be done with and so that the skill players didn't need to be involved in nonsense. He got beat down. Nobody disputes that. It's just sad that Buffalo resorted to bringing in a guy who has a lower ppg average than most AHL guys in order do the job that most of Miller's teammates didn't have the sack to do last year. Was more respectable that Gaustad took a beating at least trying to be there for his teammate. The rest of them looked like a bunch of wussys.
