Pens’ Letang to miss second straight game

Feb 8, 2013, 8:43 PM EDT

Kris Letang AP

Pittsburgh will be without All-Star defenseman Kris Letang for the second straight contest when it faces New Jersey on Saturday.

Letang, 25, was injured during last Sunday’s win over Washington with an unspecified lower-body ailment. He proceeded to play over 25 minutes in Tuesday’s win over the Isles, then sat out Thursday’s rematch with the Capitals.

It’s expected that Dylan Reese, who made his season debut on Thursday, will fill in again for Letang against the Devils and play alongside blueliner Simon Despres.

Losing Letang will hurt the Pens, as he’d gotten off to a tremendous start. The offensive defenseman scored nine points through his first 10 games and was averaging over 25 minutes a night.

Pittsburgh plays the Devils in back-to-back games on Saturday and Sunday, and there’s no word if Letang will be ready to return to action for the second half of the series.

Well that sucks for my fantasy team.

This sucks for the Pens. I don’t like him but I love watching him skate. Great hair, great skater, nasty, great game. Pitt is lucky to have him.

I think the little creep might have got hurt last year when he jumped a guy that never fights from behind in Timonen during the playoffs !

      • upyoursnfu - Feb 8, 2013 at 9:28 PM

I think Letang has a permanate scar from when that dirtbag Hartnell bit him. What kind of grown man bites another man?

        Sid’s boyfriend

Your jealousy is very apparent. Get a life you dope.

      • eigglesnosuperbowls - Feb 8, 2013 at 9:34 PM

The way pens fans stick up for their players is quite gay

      • aso513 - Feb 8, 2013 at 9:36 PM

The way you constantly talk about them and write on articles concerning them is quite gay.

And jealousy is a very female trait, change your rag little girl.

hahahah If you think Letang got hurt in that fight, you need a rewind button my friend….not a scratch.

      • eigglesnosuperbowls - Feb 9, 2013 at 12:42 PM

Let me guess what flyer the little weazel jumps next ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ahhhhhhhhh Danny Briere would be his speed!

      • hockeywithdrawal - Feb 9, 2013 at 2:13 PM

nope, I hope it’s timonen…do you understand why he did that, or is the concept of benching someone of importance for 5 minutes foreign to you, especially when Letang is sacrificing 5 of his own minutes?

Granted – Timonen isn’t that good, I agree with you – but why would Letang go after someone like Rinaldo? We want Rinaldo on the ice! Plus, Giroux is Crosby’s b*tch, Simmonds is Engellands, Hartnell bites (big shock) so really who’s left that’s worth a damn? I’m curious as to your thoughts.

This site should have a rule, no trash talking while your team is under .500 🚫🚮🙊. Let’s go Pens🐧❗

    • wicky888 - Feb 9, 2013 at 8:52 AM

      …… Fair enough

      • ironman721 - Feb 9, 2013 at 10:13 AM

Then after this weekend the Flyers should be back at .500 and we can resume with the epic debate of 1975 vs. Bankruptcy. Because that intellectual train wreck🚂 never gets old. Right?💤 Let’s go Pens🐧❗

  4. csilojohnson - Feb 8, 2013 at 10:59 PM

I agree with what ironman721 said.

  5. mclovinhockey - Feb 8, 2013 at 11:21 PM

How bout no trash talking when your team almost got sold twice because of a lack of fan base…. Boom baby

    • handsofsweed - Feb 9, 2013 at 12:47 AM

How about no trash talking unless you build a time machine and go back to 1975? Or no trash talking if your arch-rival has permanently fixed their finacial issues and will never, ever have another issue bc of their foresight, leadership and brilliance of financial planning?

The awesome part of your stupid argument is that 1975 can only be fixed by winning a cup. Our problems? Permanently fixed. You can argue all you want, but until the Pens actually go bankrupt and move or until you erase the factual, painful reality of 1975, you’ve got one broken off and stuck deep in your colon.

Get your broken, sorry asses to the playoffs. We want a rematch. Acting like we don’t want a piece? Shi*. Every last one of us wants you and only you. Come get some.

      • handsofsweed - Feb 9, 2013 at 12:52 AM

Oh, and before you crap out of your mouth, understand that we respect the win you had in the playoffs over us last year. You were clearly the better team……….last year. But it ain’t last year anymore, so let’s get after it. Catch us if you can.

    Does his pu**y hurt

    • ironman721 - Feb 9, 2013 at 8:40 AM

      😿

  7. billsfan13594 - Feb 9, 2013 at 8:50 AM

Okay, even as a flyers fan, the trolling is just getting stupid. Really. Hope Letang and Simmonds on both on ice next time these two play (Feb 20).

    • ironman721 - Feb 9, 2013 at 9:00 AM

      Agreed👍

    • phillyphanatic77 - Feb 9, 2013 at 9:59 AM

Absolutely. Trolling just leads to more trolling. I for one hate Letang bc he’s in Pittsburgh, but if he was a Flyer he’d be a fan favorite. There’s no denying that. My fellow Flyers fans need to realize that when you bring up bankruptcy Pens fans will respond with 1975, and it will go in circles, so just leave it alone til we have something new to argue about after their next matchup.
