JT Miller leads Rangers past Isles in second NHL game

Feb 7, 2013, 10:53 PM EDT

After the New York Rangers lost in his NHL debut on Tuesday, 19-year-old forward J.T. Miller played a big role their comeback Thursday night.

Miller got the Rangers on the board quickly by capitalizing on an Islanders’ turnover. He had trouble controlling the puck, but was able to setup the shot with his foot and fire in a single motion.

You can watch his first NHL goal below:

“It was really nice to get it out of the way there,” Miller said in a Blueshirts United report. “I was just trying to look past it because we had a lot of game left, so I just tried to keep plugging along.”

Miller added another goal during a Rangers’ power-play at 18:11 of the second period.

“He has some bite to him,” Rangers coach John Tortorella commented, according to ESPN’s Katie Strang.

Thanks in part to Miller’s efforts, the Rangers went on to earn a 4-1 victory and improve to 5-5-0 this season.
