A 5th round pick for a daily healthy scratch is too little?

Lovejoy wouldnt have seen the ice all season if it wasn’t for numerous injuries. This has been coming since he lost his roster spot to Depres and Bortuzzo. Similar to Staahl, get what you can when you can before you end up with nothing.

There was never a battle between Lovejoy and Despres. Lovejoy and Bortuzzo, yes. Surprised they recalled Reese, though. But, bring ‘em on! GO PENS.

This is a good move by Shero…weren’t going to get too much more for Lovejoy, and he needed to be moved. Instead of bringing in another forward or Dman on par with Lovejoy, take the trade pick, free up the spot and see what happens. Not like he’ll be missed on the blueline (no disrespect intended, but would rather see Bortuzzo rotate with Reese than see Lovejoy get minutes).

good trade for Lovejoy. pens did right by him, he has never complained, always filled in well and now has his chance to be a regular nhler. he has earned it, good luck to him.

If Lovejoy plays every game since the beginning of the season then yes, the Pens undersold him. But, the problem is that he was being scratched most nights, and teams knew that, so it’s either have this guy sitting around doing nothing (He has a one way contract so you can’t send him down without first going through waivers) or you get something in return, which is exactly what they did. I think this was a good deal for both clubs and I wish Lovejoy the best.

Shouldve got more for Lovejoy. He is a solid blueliner. Hope he does well. He always played with a lot of drive.

All pens fans knew this might happen I enjoyed his time with us but like Letestu last year his position was crowded and he was lost in the fold, wish him well with the Ducks!

Pavel Datsyuk was a 6th round draft pick. Just sayin’. Don’t underestimate the value of draft picks.

Since they added Boychuk to the roster they have to clear a roster spot for when Niskenan come off the IR and back to the active roster (unless someone else get hurt and misses 7 or more days). If they didn’t trade him the Penguins probably would have lost him like Strait for nothing. The only d-man on the roster who doesn’t have to pass through waivers is Despres. Would you keep Lovejoy up and send Despres down or trade Lovejoy?

As stacked as they are, the Pens undersold. They could have got a higher pick from this. Then again, when you’re more stacked than most Olympic rosters, I suppose you don’t really need to get maximum trade value every time…

Either you are grossly uninformed, or you’re a troll… but the Penguins’ farm system is stacked with defensive prospects. Robert Bortuzzo has been great since being called up – Lovejoy just couldn’t crack the line-up anymore. He’ll be a good fit for Anaheim.

Of course, you might just mean that the Penguins should have gotten a better return… but I doubt Lovejoy would be the piece to move either Bobby Ryan or Ryan Getzlaf.

Just recalled Dylan Reese who’s doing really good in the minors,and we get niskanen back soon. This was a good move because now he can get some ice time and we still have 8 capable defenseman.

Good pickup by the Ducks. Pens blueline is pretty crowded and he just ended up as the odd man out. Solid player.
