Any inquiries or trials should begin at the doorsteps of the mayor and police chief’s offices. The city had a history of riots, and every indication a repeat was likely was evident in the simple makeup of the carnival as evolved outside the arena throughout the playoffs. The CBC had crews and cameras prepared so why was the city not prepared?

The little blurb could be a bit clearer – this is the first case to go to TRIAL arising from the riot. All the other charges that have gone forward to the courts have until now resulted in guilty pleas with the only issue for the court to then deal with being the appropriate sentence in each case. So the wheels have been turning.

Oh, one more thing..

Of course the guy that is trying to say he’s not responsible because he was drunk is going to run a red light in May because he’d been drinking (failed conclusive tests at the station) .. and go on the record denying he’d even had a drink.

Of course he’s gonna try the ‘blackout drunk’ defense. Nobody poured the Coors Light & Jager Bombs down his loser ass throat except him. I was there … a**holes like him put me, my friends and family, and every other person there in danger. Forgetting the material damage for a second, that’s crime enough and “but I was drunk” ain’t gonna cut it.

Pretty much everyone else charged has owned up for their idiocy … be a man Kirkwood.
