Watch Zetterberg’s fifth career hat trick

Feb 2, 2013, 12:22 AM EDT

Although some will question the outcome of Detroit’s 5-3 victory over St. Louis due to the controversial ejection of Blues forward David Backes, the Red Wings had a strong showing.

Plenty of players contributed to Detroit’s victory, but Henrik Zetterberg was the clear first star with his fifth career hat trick.

If you want to watch the 32-year-old forward’s heroics, including an unusually dramatic empty netter, you can do so below:

Zetterberg also registered two assists for Detroit and is now on a six-game point streak.

With 12 points in seven games, he’s tied for sixth in the league’s scoring race.

Scoring a lot of goals is easy when your opponents are Bryzgalov, Pavelec, Neuvirth/Holtby and whatever nightmare roulette of mediocrity the Panthers are fielding. Let’s see that 5.29 GPG hold up against some *good* teams before the Cup talk starts.

Wow. That’s one way to drive the net. Looked practically Forsbergian for a minute there. Just… screw you, I’m scoring, deal with it.
