At least he celebrated with his teammates this time unlike his solo Brandi Chastain sports bra celebration against the Kings…..the kid can really play, but the Oilers will need to keep a few cement heads around to protect him and the other kids….since they only play Western Conference teams this year, he may see some payback quickly….

No problem with Nail’s celebrations, he’s fun to watch and brings fun to the NHL. However, Morris wasn’t pissed about Nail’s celebration, but Whitney’s taunt at the end. If you’ve watched Morris over the years he doesn’t take sh*t from anybody. Good win for the Oil….signed a Yotes fan, besides we have more important things to worry about mainly keeping the team, which doesn’t look pretty.

Really? There’s a time and place for that. Right after you lost the game is not the time. These teams will see each other again and if Morris wants to have a go at Whitney then, I’m all for it. But to do it right after an OT winner just looks like sour grapes and adds to an already bad rep this team has.

I don’t know how Yakupov looks ‘bad’ in this…I think the kid is still trying to get into the NHL swing of things. He went for the excited celebration and he was chastised for it…so he goes for something more tame, and people say he looks arrogant.

Cut the kid a break. He’s out there to play hockey, and Morris should have been the bigger man and walked away from Whitney. You go to the refs and leave the player alone.

I don’t know if Yakupov had to do with the fight or not, he still comes off as a major a**hole. No need to make excuses for him, and I don’t even want him to stop. The league needs villains and an arrogant prick super-skilled Russian kid named Nail will do just fine.

Hockey writers and fans often complain that players are bland and boring–need more characters in the game to spice it up. Then along comes a guy like Yakupov and everyone moans and whines about how he’s too much of a showboat or not playing the game the right way. You can’t have it both ways. I like it–and I hate the Oilers.

The kid’s got game to back up the act. Other players don’t like the act? Simple: keep him from scoring.

I didn’t mind Nails first celebration slide down the ice but wouldn’t want him to do it all the time but last nights come to me finger gestures were flat out weird. Seems like the media hype and what was said in the dressing room after his ice slide goal has the kid confused as to how to celebrate.I suggest a little bit of stone face like Brian Trottier would be nice.

Completely agree here – when I saw how he reacted I thought that was great. He obviously recognized that his previous celebration was a little selfish and wanted to make sure he shared it this time with his teammates. Good for that kid – don’t start turning everything he does into a “celebration” – let the kid have some personality

Let’s say you’re right, anyone who’s played sports knows the sweetest way to deal with that is to win and point up to the scoreboard everytime the guy opens his mouth. The beef here seems to be 100% with Whitney and Morris. Just some pathetic homer announcers bringing Yakupov’s name into it.

First time he skates away from every body which puts him in the open for everyone to see him. I’m not saying that was his intent, but it doesn’t look good. However because it was the first time we chalk it up to youth living in the moment. Kane skated away from every body to celebrate his cup clinching goal. How will Yakupov celebrate such a goal?

Last night he scored and again put himself in the open flapping his fingers in a way indicating that other players should come to him.

Maybe he should watch Gretzky’s 894 (less major milestones and even some of those were tame in comparison) goals to learn something about humility.

He definitely comes across as arrogant, but the kid has skills. I think players/fans are just looking for issues now. What did he do? all of these players, especially guys like ovechkin are way worse, the skating away and jumping into the boards. Tons of players do that, and this celebration isnt even that bad. Let them have fun out there, it was an OT winner, relax.
