He could have light up a smoke on the bench between changes for all I cared. I always said “If that was him not giving a sh*t, I’d love to see him care”. I hated to see him go. He may have had “attitude issues” but he was still one of the best on the team. Him leaving should have been first on the “things to fix” list.

If ownership spent some money on a better supporting cast and OVi still struggled I might buy it. Truth is its a two man show out there with OVI and Backstrom. Not very hard to defend a team that only has two solid scorers!

OVI isn’t the problem. The problem is with ownership and the GM. It’s time to pay some guys to come in and take pressure off OVI. Or trade him to a team that will give him help. If people thought the Caps were going to be better without Semin then they were confused.

We look more organized every game now. You can slam them but the time on attack has gotten much better, goaltending has tightened, and d has gotten a lil better.
It isnt just ovi, its the whole team.
I think we can still make the playoffs but my confidence is waning extremely fast.
Ovi just barely missed that open far side shot at the end… Ugh just awful

You can say how Oates system is good and it will work. And ya know what, i believe that the offense will come. But his system cant fix stupid penalties which the Caps have taken all season, and poor defense. Not to mention how out of shape the team is. Its clear most of them have lost their legs in the third period. Ya no amount of offensive coaching can fix that. If i had to guess, right now, based on what ive seen, no playoffs for this team…

And please, don’t pass blame off on the rest of the team – he was capable of doing so in his first couple years with a dramatically worse supporting caste around him.

Face it, he looks like a nine million dollar liability right now.
