People don’t love to hate Vancouver…? They resent the fact you need a kevlar helmet and asbestos raincoat when exiting games [ I love the smell of molten plastic and burning upholstery in the morning...it reminds me of...of hockey? ]

Luu is the man. A true professional. People can hate all they want, but with Lu and Schneid on this team, the Canucks are stronger than people realize.

People love to hate Vancouver, but has anyone noticed that they bring out the best in so many teams? Teams want this team to lose and play hard against them every game. The Canucks are hated, but it’s because of that reason they’re a great team to watch. Love them or hate them.

Not quite sure what you guys are debating on here. His reasoning for getting the start or why he should be traded?

Pretty simple logic here boys (and gals:) Luongo is the hot hand and trade bait. He steps up and shuts down The Hawks (doubtful ) and ups his stock along with nabbing a win for the Canucks.

He loses, and he still has had solid outings and maintains his trade value. Its called supply and demand.

While I am still in the lower percentile of Hawks fans who would welcome him (mind you, for the right price) Bobby Lou is a top tender in the NHL.

He’s one of two guys playing with more distractions than anybody else in the league, and both are performing very well. Fans are quick to indicate that some player’s performance is under par because of added pressure that comes with additional responsibilities. Luongo is stepping up despite a very awkward situation in Vancouver. A true professional and team player unlike a few alternate captains which shall not be named here.

Well by next season Vancouver probably has to trade one of them, otherwise they will have $9.4 million tied up in goaltending. That might not sound terrible, but Vancouver already has $60 million commited to just 14 players next season… so two number one goaltenders are a luxury they can’t afford.

So then the question is, if Luongo continues to play like this and isn’t traded before then, who do you trade in the off season? Do you trade the guy whos made your team a cup contender over the last few years, including a trip the the Cup finals? Or do you trade the guy whos played all of 68 NHL games over four years and struggled when he got his chance to take the starting job? There are obviously a lot of other factors that make it a tough call… but I think the Canucks would have a hard time getting rid of Luongo IF he has a really good year.

Of course Luongo could blow up in a few games and have an awful finish to the season, or fold his tent again in the playoffs and make this a moot debate. If he doesn’t though…. this will be fun to watch. Either way I could see Gillies being fired over this mess that is of his own making.

If you heard the audio that’s what he said before that. That really anyone can get traded if it makes the team better and that they would look at it, and that no one has approached him either with that, and then he said… “that said, I haven’t been thinking about, thought of, or considered trading Schneider”.
