The guy who just pitched that shut-out tonight isn’t bad. Wouldn’t be upset if they let him play some games. Or considering between those two they’ve allowed the fewest goals out of any goaltending tandem in the NHL iover the last couple seasons t doesn’t really matter who is ‘number 1′. Pretty good for a couple of back-ups. So what did you mean?

The only reason we lost those fights is because last time a smaller guy (Bieksa 198lbs) beat up one of your bigger players (Marleau 220 lbs) we never heard the end of it. The whining from Cali was almost as bad as Clowe’s little hissy fit in the box the other night. So of course Kassian (214lb) is not going to really beat up on Clowe (225lb) and I don’t even want to know what it would be like if Volpatti (215 lb) had beaten up Murray (245 lb)! Not enough Kleenex in the Bay area if that had occured.

Are you forgetting that Luongo played in that game as well? Since then, Luongo’s put up a 1.85 GAA and a .933 save % with little offensive support. He was also the only reason the LA game even went to overtime. Both goalies have been strong, but Luongo is showing — once again — that he is simply better than Schneider at this point in time.

Like Sergei said, Schneider’s actually been better than Luongo when you factor out that one team-wide choke against Anaheim, and nobody showed up for that game. Schneider didn’t own any more of that loss than any other Canuck, and since then he’s been great – though the team around him has been questionable.

I think you can pretty much write-off the first start of the year for Schneider, where the whole team was blown out of the water. They just laid an egg. After that game, he’s gone 2-1 with a .935 SV %, 2.00 GAA, and saved 4/5 in the shootout.

All I can think of here is that the Canucks want to showcase Luongo more early in hopes of attracting a big trade.
